Syria Leads a Selective Deterioration Week
A selective deterioration week led by Syria, with additional publication-grade cases in Nigeria, Afghanistan, and Guatemala.
Public read
This issue is best read as a selective but multi-theater deterioration week. The analytical story of W04 is concentrated in four publication-grade cases: Syria as the lead territorial and military threshold-crossing shift, Nigeria as a clear insecurity worsening, Afghanistan as a fresh high-visibility ISIS-linked attack in a secure area, and Guatemala as a governance-security crisis with enough corroboration to defend publication.
Outside the lead case, W04 also produced publication-grade deterioration cases in Nigeria, Afghanistan, and Guatemala, while the watch layer widened with four new entries and no cooling-off movement.
